A wonderfully rare Japanese cultivar with pinstriped foliage. Rhapis Excelsa is a short undergrowth species of palm found originally in the monsoonal evergreen forests. Leaves are deeply segmented and segments are pleated born on long slender stems. Upper parts of the stems are clothed in a tightly adhering dense network of dark leaf sheath fibers curly-queuing around the trunk.
