King Palm (archontophoenix alexandrae)

Elegant and contemporary visually, the King Palm is self cleaning in that it simply drops its fronds to the ground when they have expired, leaving behind a clean trunk scar. This Australian native palm has a brilliant lime green, tall crownshaft and sprouts 6 to 7 foot long fronds. Thriving trees can reach 40 to 80 feet tall over time with a top frond spread of 10 to 15 feet across. Small, cream colored, self pollinating flowers spring out from the bloom spathes, which emerge from just below the crownshaft in multiples.
